Black Friday Boredom

Black Friday Boredom
by Brian, the old man

As I sit here
On the job
So slow today
Where is the mob?

They must be shopping
For their treasure
Too stuffed with turkey
From Thanksgiving pleasure.

But I'll sit here
And wait on their call
And enjoy this Black Friday
While they're all at the mall.

I'll deal with my boredom
And try to smile
And hope for some calls
While I sit here and file.

Thanksgiving Reflection

Thanksgiving Reflection
by Brian, the old man

Once upon a time
Is how this story starts.
When I was just a babe
You touched my parents hearts.

They brought me to the water
And made a vow to You
To raise me to know Jesus,
His teachings through and through.

When I reached my teen years
The heart You touched was mine.
I knew Your Son had come for me,
Would love me for all time.

As I went out in the world,
A young adult you see,
I tried to do it on my own
But You still carried me.

As I tried to win the race
Of fame and fortune true,
I must confess my sin right now
I had forgotten You.

Though troubles were many You stayed right there
Through all my pain and strife.
My parents and You had taken a vow
To guide me through my life.

Looking back now I know You were there
Through all of those dark years.
You offered me unconditional love
And dried up all my tears.

You blessed me with a baby boy
Who fills my heart with pride,
A baby girl as sweet as can be
My love I cannot hide.

My parents and siblings have always been there
To show me how Christ cares.
Nieces and nephews have shown me Your love
Which helps me with what life bears.

You blessed me with friends all of my days
To brighten my life with joy.
Your church with traditions, love and support
Has made me one happy boy.

So today I am thankful for all of Your love
As we celebrate this Thanksgiving.
Please help me to shine my light on the world
And teach others Your Son is still living.

The Nagging Alarm Clock

The Nagging Alarm Clock
by Brian, the old man

Buzzing, Screaming, Ringing Loud
Why disturb my dreaming cloud
Don't you know I want more sleep
Just five more minutes I won't fall deep

I hit your bar to silence you
And drift back off to oceans blue
Then once again you blow your horn
Just five more minutes I can't be torn

I hit you harder to shut you up
So I can win that loving cup
You blast your noise again at me
Just five more minutes, just let me be!

I yank your plug out from the wall
Am filled with peace, my dreams won't stall
I lay and dream of heaven's gate
Oh no! What have I done, I'm late!

I jump right up and start to dress
I don't have time my hair's a mess
I rush right out, look like a slob
Must get to work to do my job

The boss just looks at me and sighs
He shakes his head shouts out his cries
"Late again, This has to cease
No more chances, I'll hire my niece"

I look at him say I'll improve
Promise to get back in the groove
I won't be late to work I swear
Just give me a chance, I really do care.

Buzzing, Screaming, Ringing Loud
Why disturb my dreaming cloud
Don't you know I want more sleep
Just five more minutes I won't fall deep
